Domestic Violence or DV as its referred to by police and prosecutors is a serious problem nation wide as well as locally. A very serious problem! Britain’s Supreme Court has ruled that homosexuality may be used as a reason for seeking asylum in the United Kingdom. The ruling underscored that the right of a homosexual individual to be themselves or not to have to deny their sexuality is a fundamental right. Read the rest of this entry »
I hoped that State delegate Bob Marshall was an anomaly, but apparently he isn’t. In fact, the newly elected governor is cut from the same homophobic cloth. By stripping away legal protection for LGBT Virginians. Its now perfectly legal in governor Bob McDonnell’s Virginia to be fired solely on the basis of your sexual orientation. Antiquated laws are a part of the American political and legal landscape. And for the most part are laughable to the point of absurdity. However in California one antiquated law in particular is no laughing matter. It sickens me reading all the absurd opinions wafting out of Hollywood regarding Roman Polanski that attempt to justify his behavior, downplay his actions or to even say that because of his age, the fact that he’s married and has grandchildren hes not a danger. WTF?
In Louisiana being caught preforming ORAL or ANAL sex is not only a crime, but a felony which upon conviction will also land you on the sex offender’s registry; regardless of whether or not the sex is consensual.
As both an attorney and an HIV+ person this story concerning the possession of three or more condoms frightens me. Perhaps prostitution is actually a problem for these three cities and something any responsible mayor or city council would want to address. However the spread of HIV the virus that causes AIDS is a far larger problem with far reaching effects and consequences. No law, legislation or municipal code should be enacted that in any way discourages the use and possession of condoms. No matter how many an individual possesses. Read the rest of this entry »
